I'm Tess Jutras.
Nice to meet you! Feel free to browse to learn about me and what I've been up to lately.
professional outlook
I'm a senior at Boston University graduating in May 2019 with a public relations degree. I'm currently the Social Media Manager for Roxy's Grilled Cheese. I'm pursuing entry level opportunities for post-graduation - if you're hiring, let me know!

About Me
I grew up in a very rural Vermont town, but I call Boston home now! I came to Boston seeking a contrast from my life in Vermont and discovered a passion for PR. My interests primarily lie in lifestyle and healthcare public relations. I'm passionate about food and health and fitness, and the work that I have done for food/restaurant, fitness, and hotel clients has been my favorite.
Professional Experience
Social Media Manager, Roxy's Grilled Cheese
June 2018 - present
I manage the popular restaurant/food truck’s Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook accounts. I create weekly content via food photography, graphic design, and customer photos. I have established social media campaigns, collaborations, and giveaways to increase engagement. I also handle incoming email inquiries regarding customer feedback, catering, special events, and fundraising.
Public Relations Intern, All Heart PR
September 2018 - December 2018
During my time at All Heart, I handled public relations for a variety of food and lifestyle accounts including the Boston Public Market and Lark Hotels. My tasks primarily included composition of media lists, influencer lists, pitches, media clips, event listings, and bios. I also provided assistance with monthly client meetings and client events.
Public Relations Intern, Conventures
May 2018 - August 2018
At Conventures, I handled public relations for large-scale events including Boston Harborfest, the Boston Seafood Festival, and the Reebok Boston 10K for Women, as well as smaller fundraising-based events. My responsibilities included writing and pitching of press releases, media advisories, and event listings as well as composition of media lists, bios, boilerplates, blog posts, and monthly newsletter copy. I also created influencer lists to ensure increased event coverage via social media. Additionally, I assisted with client meetings, events, and on-site photography.
Account Associate, Image Unlimited Communications
January 2018 - May 2018
In my time at IUC, I handled public relations for a variety of lifestyle accounts including Sweetgreen, The Smoke Shop, MET Restaurant Group, and Equinox. I refined my skills in the writing and pitching of press releases, media advisories, and event listings, and the compilation of media clips, client agendas, one-sheets, bios, and boilerplates. Additionally, I assisted with client events, meetings, and photoshoots.
Event Staff, Boston Globe Media
October 2017 - present
I work at a variety of the events for The Boston Globe. My responsibilities have included selling merchandise, guiding speakers, managing green rooms, and acting as a stage hand.
PR and Event Planning Intern, Food Truck Festivals of America
May 2017 - August 2017
At FTFA, my primarily responsibility was handling all PR for ten food truck and craft beer festivals around the country. This included writing and sending press releases, posting event listings, working at events, and creating post-event media recaps. Additionally, I did graphic design for the events and handled all day-of social media at festivals. I also did some work for their boutique marketing agency, Aigner Prensky Marketing, where I worked with a variety of clients such as Scotties and Mount Auburn Hospital.
Social Media and Marketing Intern, Gourmet Boutique
September 2016 - March 2017
My responsibilities included working as a store employee to process sales and generate business, answering questions, processing online/special orders, researching new products, and managing inventory. In addition to my responsibilities as a regular employee, I managed the stores's social media, primarily the Instagram account (@gourmetboutiqueboston) and the store's blog.
Director of Outreach, PRAdvanced
May 2016 - February 2017
Each year, PRSSA has a series of regional conferences; this year was Boston University's tenth year hosting. I was responsible for reaching out to PR professionals from around the region and inviting them to be exhibitors at the career fair that takes place at the end of the event. I was also responsible for recruiting the conference's attendees: a key component of the event's success. I organized a career fair of 11 companies and broke the conference's attendance record.
Social Media Intern and Cashier, Shelburne Market
May 2016 - August 2016
Over the summer, I worked at a local grocery store back home in Vermont. I was initially hired as a cashier, but I decided to make and manage an Instagram account for the store. I created content for the account throughout my time there and built up a decent following for the small-town store.

Portfolio
Here you'll find some of the work that I've completed for various internships.
Here is an example of one of my Instagram posts for Roxy's Grilled Cheese. We introduced this buffalo chicken sandwich as a special to preface our roll-out of the popular Double Fried chicken sandwich at our Allston location (previously only available in Cambridge).
In January 2019, Roxy's launched a new catering menu. I created this newsletter that was sent to frequent customers and past catering clients announcing the new catering menu and upcoming events/promotions for the season.
Roxy's recently added the Double Fried chicken sandwich to its Allston menu after previously being exclusive to the Cambridge location. This is a promotional flyer I made for the sandwich that is displayed in the Allston restaurant to announce the new item.
Each month, All Heart sends a round-up pitch of that month's events at the Boston Public Market to local media to highlight special events, recurring events, and cooking classes in the Market's kitchen.
This is a pitch that I wrote to be sent to local media highlighting their client Flatbread Brighton's New Year's Eve fundraising event.
This is a media recap that I put together following the 7th Annual Boston Seafood Festival featuring all of the media coverage for the event as well as statistics gathered via Meltwater, influencer posts, and attendee posts.
This is a blog post that I wrote during my time at Conventures, where I interviewed two senior members of the team who had a great deal of experience with golf tournaments to learn what it takes to execute one successfully.
I wrote this press release to announce their client NU Kitchen's rebranding across two locations.
